Hello and Happy Easter! I will be highlighting our new and current design team members every Sunday and Wednesday. They are very talented ladies who are creating some great work for the blog to keep your creativity and mojo flowing. First up on this blessed holiday is Joyce McCall. She created a wonderful springtime card using the New Birds, Blooms & Bikes Digital Kit. Here is what she did...
Digital kits aren't just for digital layouts! With a little planning you can save a lot of paper, enjoy the latest digital kits, and create wonderful cards and layouts! In the case of this project, I sketched out my card in order to decide what sizes of patterned paper I needed. Then I created a letter-sized document in PhotoShop Elements and added the pieces I needed from the digital kit. I had to fussy-cut the leaves, but I used my paper trimmer for the other elements.
As a side note, to create the patterned leaves I filled the outline in and used it as a clipping mask for one of the patterned papers. I also added the April Showers/May Flowers stamp and some text to the What I Love About Spring tag before adding it to the letter-sized document.
Once assembled, the final size was 5" x 5". I used green card-stock for the base. I added some light yellow punched scallop border pieces that matched the patterned paper and some flower embellishments. I used foam dots to give the leaves and journal block some dimension on the card.
The best part about digital kits is that you can use them over and over! You can adjust the hue to create more colors of your favorite patterns. They can be re-sized, re-purposed, and re-designed to fit your project needs! Jump in and put digi kits to work for you!
Thanks Joyce!
Enjoy!
